Soup for the Soul
Finally, after waiting patiently all summer, it is time. Time for your favorite TV shows to start that is! This, of course, means that you can't just settle for watching the season premiere on your couch, alone. Oh, no. This is grounds for celebration. Or a small gathering, at the very least.
How you will want to go about doing this depends, quite frankly, on the TV show in question. Is it a comedy, a drama, a reality series? Well, you've come to the right place. Each show has a personality or theme, which makes it easy to add a little spice to any season premiere. Just be sure to invite guests who share similar interest in the program you're watching. Trust us, it makes it so much more enjoyable.
Comedy - The Office, 30 Rock, Modern Family, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Glee. The fall lineup for comedies is plentiful, which gives you a whole lot of options when it comes to your premiere party. Some nights of the week have multiple shows that could extend your party for another 30 minutes to an hour. Other nights aren't as plentiful, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some time with good friends and great television. For your comedy premiere party, pick one or two things important about that show, and roll with it. For example, maybe drink your beverages out of a coffee mug if you are watching The Office. Or perhaps, drink Coors Lite if It's Always Sunny is your show of choice. Either way, having a few drinks and laughing with your pals is the best way to watch a comedy series. Of course, you are going to want to have some munchies lying around. However, no need to go overboard in the preparation. A few bags of chips and some queso dip, and everyone is happy.
Drama – Grey’s Anatomy, House. The drama is in a class all its own because these are usually longer in length and screen more along the lines of a film. The intensity and involvement the crowd gets from these shows makes watching them more like a movie theater experience. Enhance that movie theater experience by turning the lights off and watching on a big screen TV. Pop some popcorn, get some candy, and you've got yourself your own cinematic adventure. The combination of suspense and thrill - mixed with the occasional bits of comedic relief - really will have you and your friends wanting to make the premiere party a weekly occurance.
Reality - The Biggest Loser. This show inspires hope for anyone struggling with a goal. This series takes you behind the scenes in a competitive, yet supportive atmosphere chronicling a group of overweight Americans on their quest to get healthy and lose weight. For obvious reasons, this type of premiere wouldn't be best accompanied by beer and nachos (though there is nothing wrong with that). But to best stick with the show's theme, light, healthy snacks and beverages are the way to go. A fruit or veggie platter is always a safe bet. However, for those of you who require a bit more bite, try something a little more flavorful, like these cheesy zucchini bites, orwarm artichoke and bean dip Serve with flavored water or any otherhealthy drink recipe you may find.
For information on when to host your own premiere party, you'll want to check out this fall's TV lineup. Of course, if the premiere time is inconvenient for you or your friends, you could always use the DVR or TiVo, and schedule the party whenever you please!
