Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (about 100°F/38°C)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon instant yeast (or ¾ teaspoon active dry yeast)

Mix the Dough – In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast. Slowly pour in warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 12–18 hours (overnight).

Shape the Dough – Lightly flour a surface and gently shape the dough into a ball. Place it on parchment paper, cover it with a towel, and let it rest for another 30–60 minutes.

Preheat the Oven – About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a Dutch oven, place it inside while preheating.

Score & Bake – If desired, score the top of the dough with a sharp knife. Carefully transfer the dough (with parchment paper) into the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

Cool & Enjoy – Transfer the bread to a cooling rack and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing. Enjoy with butter, soup, or your favorite spread!
Notes
- No Dutch oven? Bake on a preheated baking stone with a small pan of water in the oven to create steam.
