- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup chopped pecans toasted for extra flavor
- 1 can 21 oz pie filling (e.g., apple, cherry, or peach)
- 1 stick ½ cup unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats
- Optional: ½ cup caramel sauce chocolate chips, or shredded coconut
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer the ingredients: Spread the pie filling evenly across the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the filling, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
Add the pecans and butter: Scatter chopped pecans over the cake mix. Place thin pats of butter evenly on top, covering as much surface as possible.
Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
Serve: Let the cake cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
- To prevent burning: Cover the dish loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes if the pecans start to brown too much.
- Customizations: Try adding chocolate chips for a richer dessert or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra sweetness.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven for best results.
